San Lorenzo Gosforth, is located in the heart of Gosforth high street. Gosforth has a number of parking areas close by.
Our reservation was on a Saturday evening, the restaurant was buzzing with couples and families enjoying time together and it was nice for us to enjoy one of Adams few weekends that he has off work. We ordered drinks while we browsed the menu.
Welcoming staff accompanied us to our table and took our order. You could tell that the restaurant had its regular clients which is always a good sign.
Adam and I both opted from king prawn starters, I ordered the Gamberoni all’ Aglio, prawns on a bed of braised fregola pasta in a white wine and garlic butter and Adam had the Gamberoni alla Diavola, prawns in a spicy tomato and pepperoni sauce, on a bed of braised fregola pasta. Both came well presented and tasted absolutely delicious. We were both of the opinion that pizza was a ‘must’ for main course. I ordered the Bianco, a white sauced based pizza, topped with spinach, mushrooms roasted squash, toasted pine nuts and more. Adam went for the Anatra with figs, confit duck and gorgonzola. All the pizzas are stoned baked in a traditional Italian pizza oven which I think you can tell when you are eating it. The pizzas are huge and enough to feed two people, Adam was in his element and I left having to ask for half of mine in a ‘doggy bag’
Overall San Lorenzo Gosforth is what I would say has a typical Italian feel with food to match. It is welcoming and you can tell the staff enjoy facilitating family and friends spending time together over food. Certainly would recommend it and look to return again in the future.
San Lorenzo also as a great lunchtime and early bird menu two courses for £10.95 and three courses for £13.95 served until 7pm Sunday-Thursday and 5pm Friday-Saturday.
This was a complimentary meal. The review was my honest opinion.
