Hello from the southern state of Georgia! Georgia is known as the Peach state for we grow the most delicious peaches in the United States!! Here you may ask someone, “How are you?” and they may reply, “Just peachy!”
Georgia has a diverse climate, culture and topography. It is divided up into many different region such as the High Country and Northeast Mountains to the Historic Heartland and the Coastal Region. Georgia has mountains, rolling green hills to flat lands and marshes! Each region offers many different attractions and has something for everyone. Georgia offers the excitement of a big city, the sun and surf of the coast to the laid back country living of small towns. For this guest blog, I will talk about two of the bigger attractions in Atlanta: the Georgia Aquarium and Stone Mountain.
ATLANTA: Atlanta is the capital of Georgia and is also the largest city within the state. There are a variety of world class restaurants to eat at, professional sports teams to watch, local life with botanical gardens, art festivals, and music/concerts. If you want it, you can find it in Atlanta. Atlanta can be a bit overwhelming, but once you have narrowed it down to what you want to do, it is an amazing city to be a part of!
Georgia Aquarium: The aquarium is the largest aquarium in the Western hemisphere!! It holds over 10 million gallons of water and has thousands of variety of water life!!! One of the most fun things about visiting the aquarium is the face to face experiences you can have with the animals! You can go behind the scenes and learn what it takes to care for all these amazing creatures as well!! Guests can have personal interaction with these animals. One of my favorite programs is the Journey with the Gentle Giants. Here you actually get to scuba dive or swim with whale sharks, manta rays and other species!!! Another fun feature that the aquarium offers is sleepovers! Yes, I just said sleepovers as in bring your PJs, sleeping bag and toothbrushes. You get to stay the night and have the aquarium all to yourself. Well, except for the other thousands of marine life that will be with you ;). The sleepovers range from families with kids to adult only to large groups. The purpose of the aquarium is to educate people on the variety of species that are out there and how we can help to maintain and improve the habitats and lives of such beautiful creatures.

Stone Mountain: Stone Mountain is a city of about 6,000 people in DeKalb County. The city, itself, is steeped in rich history of the American Civil War. One huge attraction is the Stone Mountain Park! The park is 3,200 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, lakes and parks that offers year round fun for the family!
One of the largest attractions at the park is the nightly laser show. The show runs from April until October. It is a spectacular show with laser images shown on the side of the mountain and set to music!! You bring your lawn chairs or blankets and can sit in the meadow for a wonderful show that will leave you awe-inspired.

Other wonderful adventures at Stone Mountain is the train ride around the base of the mountain. The train ride gives you a 365 degree view of the mountain and all its surroundings. For you more adventurous types, you can take a sky car up to the top of the mountain or if feel like it, can climb one side of the mountain to the top!!!!
Stone Mountain has the village that you can stroll through with a multitude of different shops. You can find shops with food, candy, homemade crafts to rock wall climbing! Within the village, you can always be a part of some wonderful festival! Festivals are year round and bring an assortment of entertainment and excitement.
One of the most exciting things about Stone Mountain is that you can go snow sledding in the winter!! Yes, in Georgia where it rarely ever snows, you can visit Snow Mountain! From November to February, kids of all ages can have fun riding an inner tube down the 400-foot tubing hill!! There is enough snow that you can even build a snowman!!! Let me tell you, this is exciting to us Southerners who don’t get to experience snow. However, if I am honest, we really don’t want to experience cold and snow for long periods of time so this is the perfect solution!! LOL!
