Fresh Lobster Restaurant in Kalutara is owned and ran by husband wife partnership Phillip and Maria.
Don’t be put off by the wooden shack appearance. There is a story behind it…It is is a fantastic location right on the beach front where you can see, smell and hear the beautiful Indian Ocean. This husband and wife ran restaurant is very authentic and they make you feel very welcome. Phillip and Maria are happy to discuss your visit to Sri Lanka, chat about their restaurant story and about the local area Kalutara.
Lobster is caught daily so it is as fresh as you can get and it tasted delicious. 3000rps is approx £15.00 per person but it is definitely worth the money as you are served x2 lobsters each accompanied with rice, salad, potato curry with coconut, ginger sauce and pineapple curry. We like our food and there was plenty.
Beers were 300rps approximately £1.50 each, which is half the price of nearby hotels. I advise you to ring ahead or pop in to the restaurant prior to your reservation so that Phillip can catch what you are planning on eat. Lobster and prawns come recommended. We ate at 8pm, Phillip picked us up in his company tuc tuc at the nearby Avani Kalutara Hotel reception.
You will notice as you are seated that there are trees which have been planted by tourists who have visited the restaurant. We wanted to represent the UK so for 2000rps (£10) Phillip would plant a tree with our names and country next to it.
The food was so good we returned for lunch a few days later and opted for the prawns. They were amazing and plentiful.
5 stars for this restaurant the food, location and staff were excellent. It is a must visit if you are in this area and has just recently been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor
