Ait Ben Haddou (1 Day)

About

Aït Benhaddou is an ighrem, along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech in present day Morocco. Most citizens attracted by the tourist trade live in more modern dwellings in the village on the other side of the river, although there are four families still living in the ancient village.

Itinerary

You will leave from your hotel/riad in Marrakech at 7am and drive approximately 190 km, passing through the Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n Tichka pass, stopping for photos along the way including a breakfast stop. On arrival at Ait ben Haddou village your guide will take you to discover the Ksar of Haddou. Ksar Ait-Ben-Haddou is a typical example of traditional Berber architecture. Walking through the streets and under the kasbah you will spend an hour or so in Ait, afterwards enjoying lunch at a nearby restaurant. On the way back to Marrakech you have a short stop in the High Atlas.
